This past month, 118 members of the ColorStack community gathered for the organization’s monthly Fam Friday series. These virtual sessions give students the opportunity to meet one another and attend skill building workshops with industry professionals.

September's Fam Friday event centered around the theme of breaking out of your shell and boasted guest speakers from Squarespace, Netflix, Southwest Airlines, and Gusto. Session topics included breaking into software engineering, tips for successful interviews, how to weigh different job offers, and finding mentorship within your own community. Throughout the event students had the opportunity to interface directly with recruiters and engineers from visiting companies by way of Q&As and roundtables.

Not only did students come away from the event with a wealth of professional knowledge, but they also received a variety of giveaways over the course of the afternoon. This month, over 50 students won $25 food gift cards and licenses to AlgoExpert. Additionally, four lucky attendees won $150 gift cards.
